Backed by an exceptionally brilliant academic record, Prof. Chadha has been engaged in teaching and research for nearly
40 years now. He has written 16 books besides
contributing 98 research papers to national and
international research journals on various development
issues relating to India and other developing countries
of Asia, notably South-Asia, Indonesia and China.
Prof. Chadha was a member of the Prime
Minister of India's Economic Advisory Council during
2004-2009. During 2007-2008, he was Chairman of the UGC
Committee to review the Pay Scales and Services
conditions of University and College Teachers of India. He was a Visiting Fellow at Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, England, a Visiting Research Fellow at Institute of Developing Economies, Tokyo, and a Visiting Professor at University of Mauritius.
Currently, he is an Honorary Professor at Shenzhen University, China and Nihon Fukushi University, Nagoya-Japan besides being a member of the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Development Research, Colombo.
Prof. Chadha has been a Consultant to several international development organizations including United Nations agencies such as FAO, ILO, UNCTAD, ESCAP, etc. besides serving on numerous other international and national expert committees. He has been honored with numerous awards and distinctions for his contribution in the field of education, the latest being the D. Litt Degree (honoris causa) conferred by Panjab University, Chandigarh
and Mysore University, Mysore, and Doctor of Letters by
Pondicherry University, Puducherry. He was recently elected as the President of the Indian Economic Association. Earlier, he was the President of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics as well the Indian Society of Labour Economics.

Rajiv Krishna Saxena (born 1951 in Delhi) was a National
Science Talent Scholar supported by the Government of
India while he pursued his studies in Delhi University (BSc
Hons Chemistry, 1970) and the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences, New Delhi (MSc Biochemistry 1973, and
PhD 1977). He won numerous awards for brilliant academic
performance, including Prof. TR Sheshadri award for
topping the university merit list in Chemistry Honors.
He did his postdoctoral research work in the field of
Immunology at the National Institutes of Health in USA
and returned to India in 1984 to initially join the
National Institute of Immunology as a core scientist and
later moved to the School of Life Sciences (SLS),
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as an Associate
Professor of Immunology. He was appointed Professor
(1992), Dean of the School of Life Sciences (2001) and
Rector (Pro-vice chancellor / Vice-president) of JNU
(2002-2005). In 1995 he was awarded the NII Senior
Scientist oration and Gold Medal. Prof. Saxena spent 2
years as a Visiting Professor at the University of
Pittsburgh School of Medicine (1990-1992), and was later
awarded the prestigious Senior Fellowship of the US
National Research Council (NRC) to work at NIOSH, Center
of Disease Control, USA (1998-2000). Recently he spent 2
years (2005-2007) doing collaborative research as a
senior NRC fellow at the US Environmental Protection
Agency, North Carolina. Prof. Saxena was elected fellow
of Indian Science Academy, Bangalore (1992), National
Academy of Science (1996) and the Indian National
Science Academy (2002). He has been the recipient of
about 20 national and international research grants and
heads an active research group at the School of Life
Sciences, JNU. Currently he has focused his research on
understanding the interactions of nano-particles with
cells and tissues, in delineating the mechanism of
erythrocyte loss a variety of anemic conditions and in
understanding the effect of air-borne particulate
pollutants on lung immunity and susceptibility to
diseases. He has so far published more than 140 research
papers in national and international journals and guided
15 Ph.D. students. He played a key role in the
establishment of the South Asian University
since 2008. In Dec. 2011, he was appointed the first
Vice President of the university.

Dr. Malik joined the South Asian University on 4th
July 2011 as the first Registrar. He holds a Ph.D.
degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, MA (Public
Administration), MBA (AIMA), PG Diploma in Journalism, a
Course of specialization in the Programme for
Development Administration (DAP) offered in Rome (on an
Italian Government Scholarship) for six months and a
Seminar for Advanced Training European Community in
Brussels. Dr. Malik has about thirty-five years of
experience of working in Educational Administration.
Before joining South Asian University, Dr. Malik worked
as the first Registrar of Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD),
Govt. of NCT of Delhi. He has served Jawaharlal Nehru
University (JNU) for about 20 years as Joint
Registrar/Deputy Registrar/Assistant Registrar, and as
OSD to Union Minister for Science & Technology, Planning
and Programme Implementation. While working at JNU in
different capacities, he has gained wide ranging
experience in all aspects of University Administration –
Human Resource Management, Academic Administration,
Financial Management, Admission and Evaluation
(including for recognized Defence and other institutions
of JNU), Hostel Administration, Project Management,
International Collaborations and e-Governance. Dr.
Malik has been actively involved in introducing
computerization in University’s work (particularly JNU).
He was a member of a number of Committees constituted by
JNU and outside JNU/AUD like Selection Committee for
administrative positions of Central Universities of
Sikkim, Rajasthan, and is Finance Committee member of
Central University of Gujarat. He has written a number
of articles on different aspects of University
Administration (office automation, e-governance,
Training needs, Outsourcing of support services, student
mobility, management of University resources, etc.),
which have been published in research journals. He has
also participated in a few International Forums and
presented papers on various aspects of University
administration. |
